Times Square is still here, but what really happened to it?

This page, One Times Square, describes a structure or object covered in the original series, but the events' timelines shown here are fan creations. For the original timelines, see the Life After People Wiki's corresponding page.

One Times Square, or simply Times Tower is one of the many famous buildings in Times Square, the known tourist attraction in New York City. First built in 1904, it originally served as the headquarters for The New York Times newspaper, until 1913, where it moved to 229 West 43rd Street. It also had granite and terracotta walls that set up the building, which was replaced with the singular steel frame and marble facade in 1967. The tower stands 395 feet (120 m) tall. The building seems to be very strong, but will the One Times square stand a chance in a life after people?

1 Day After People[]

The glistening billboards that make up One Times Square still shine in the night, but the streets and city itself are eerily silent, with only the silent noises of the rats and flies that wander around some parts.

2 Days After People[]

With the malfunctioning of the New York City power grid, the lights of the One Times Square's billboards cease to function, shutting down it and the other lights of Times Square, with all but the Ricoh Sign plunging into the darkness. The structure itself is now left to fend for itself against the potential threat that time will have on it.

The gas explosion

In the base of the tower, a leakage of gas from a broken pipe has caused an explosion, heavily weakening the base of the One Times Square. A majority of its glass has broke out, leaving only the steel frame and the marble facade.

50 Years After People[]

The Times Square Ball is in trouble. High winds have buffeted the ball for years, and now, the pole the ball travels down is falling off. One of bolts holding the pole on the tower breaks, allowing the pole to lean and snap off the tower plummeting down to the street below. The billboards also fall off. However, the sign of the One Times Square still stands, but the letters of it are barely recognizable. As a matter of fact, a construction change in the 1960s will be the tower's greatest weakness.

100 Years After People[]

Greatly corroding from the water and wind, the steel frame of the One Times Square is proving to be a serious problem for the building. This problem all comes from its replacement in 1967, when, after being sold to Allied Chemicals, had the granite and terracotta walls that originally made up the building replaced with steel and marble, which would soon prove to be its weak point in a life after people. Now, its supports breaking, the sign of the building falls off and crashes onto the ground, which has long since conquered the streets.

250 Years After People[]

With only the marble facade keeping the tower together after all these years, one good storm is all it takes to bring it down. During this hurricane, the One Times Square leans too far, finally collapsing the building. A notable structure of Times Square is no more.
